Managed to get my Spanish squadron done for Santiago – and a few additional reinforcements (Pelayo, AMC Rapido and an extra destroyer). C. Colon is a Garibaldi with the after bridge removed and some bits of plastic rod stuck behind the after funnel to represent ventilators. The destroyers are British "A" class pretending to Furor etc. – not quite right but close enough.

I'm still experimenting with masts. It's not easy to drill a hole, and they're a bit fragile, but I think I like them. Unfortunately I did Pelayo with pin heads before I worked out a better way of doing the fighting tops. At least it is robust!

Apologies if the link doesn't work – not sure how to upload photos directly.

Thanks Darryl – have done that. Will try posting the photos there directly when I get a moment.

Thank you very much – much appreciated. It was your SLW package that sucked me into this, curse you …

(Am also hugely enjoying your Cod Wars reissue – and the Andrew Welch book, which I managed to find in the library as it's an awful price on the net – so thanks for that too. Now dusting off my Shapeways ICGVs!)

Nice work.

Very nice. I had not thought of using a light grey for the bases. Like that.

Funny you should say that. I've always thought it was blue (ish). It's Humbrol 144, which I think of as RAF blue grey, but you're the second person recently who has startled me by calling it grey. Maybe I'm used to looking at the North Sea, whereas these of course should really be on a Caribbean sun-bright blue!

Very nice!
