"A drone attack on Russia's Hmeymim airbase in Syria in January this year was an elaborate multi-purpose Pentagon operation, Editor-in-Chief of National Defense journal Igor Korotchenko told TASS on Thursday.

As Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said at a plenary session of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on security earlier on Thursday, the UAVs that attacked Russia's Hmeymim airbase in Syria were operated from a US Boeing Poseidon-8 reconnaissance plane…."

Sounds better to say the US did it, than primitive, stone-age era guerrillas, I suspect.

Typical misinformation, like the USA is responsible for the failure and US pullout/cancellation of the INF Treaty, which the Russians have been cheating on for years, but ignore those facts, and look over here at this shiny object.

Given the technical sophistication of the drones described, it seems unlikely that they originated from one of the anti-Assad rebel groups, even if backed by the Saudis or one of the Gulf states.
