There are a lot of people who post here at TMP, and as long as they obey forum rules, they have just as much a right to post on the forums as you do. Even if you disagree with them. Even if you despise them. We have given you a mechanism so that if someone gets on your nerves, you can make them "disappear" from your TMP. It is called the Stifle. If you Stifle someone, you will no longer see their posts. If you choose not to Stifle the person who irritates or annoys you, then you are responsible for your own actions regarding that person. Forum rules apply. You do not have the right to be nasty, snarky, aggressive, and/or provocative toward any other member of TMP. Period. You do not have the right to stalk someone from topic to topic, picking fights with them. You may feel safe in persecuting another TMP member, telling yourself that you aren't breaking any "rules." Well, as I have said before, TMP staff will intervene if we feel someone is making the forums less civil for the rest of us. I know that most of you are pleasant and wonderful on the forums. Thank you! This is just a reminder for those who need it. |

Also, no person or group or clique "owns" any board or portion of the forums. You do not have the right to "drive off" people you don't like. Everyone shares on the forum. |

Is this another cryptic discussion topic that cannot be discussed because it's more of an announcement/warning than a discussion? Dan TMP link |

So it's okay to be snarky, rude and offensive to a group of people but not towards an individual? My rule on posting is that I will never post anything that I will not say to the person face to face. |

Luckily, anything I'd say here I would definitely say to ones face. |

Stifle does not turn off the topic or responses to it. I don't even want to accidently click on the persons topic. |
Korvessa | 22 Oct 2018 2:53 p.m. PST |
These group warnings/chew-outs always remind me of a work experience where the boss brought in everyone for a group chastisement. Did absolutely no good whatsoever as everyone thought is was the other guy. And +2 for PM |

Korvessa +2 No one knows what to do except keep doing what they are doing or do nothing. |

So it's okay to be snarky, rude and offensive to a group of people but not towards an individual? No offense, but that doesn't make any sense, and nobody said anything even close to that. Stifle does not turn off the topic or responses to it. I don't even want to accidently click on the persons topic. Then use Ignore. |

In the absence of audio, everyone's just going to have to imagine me humming "Kumbaya." |
Editor in Chief Bill | 22 Oct 2018 5:58 p.m. PST |
Can I imagine you humming while you are in a vat of boiling oil? |
Cacique Caribe | 22 Oct 2018 6:12 p.m. PST |
I could kick myself right now. I'm usually much quicker at figuring things out. Dan

Bill "Can I imagine you humming while you are in a vat of boiling oil?" I'm sure you can, but just think how fattening I'd be deep fried. |

I've been visiting and posting to this site for many years, never been dog housed. I've had some sharp exchanges but nothing that ever rose above that. Some commentary and behavior that has risen an eyebrow but that can't really be seen on the internet. Don't really understand how all this becomes an issue for people. |

No hatred; just a very great sadness at the departure of two individuals who contributed so very much to this forum. So many good people gone, with fewer and fewer filling the void. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 23 Oct 2018 9:34 a.m. PST |
So many good people gone, with fewer and fewer filling the void. Yes, only a few thousand still here… |
23rdFusilier | 23 Oct 2018 10:08 a.m. PST |
Yes, thousands on the rolls but the "fit for duty" numbers are smaller. |
Cacique Caribe | 23 Oct 2018 10:09 a.m. PST |
Bill: "Yes, only a few thousand still here…" Are they mostly lurkers? Duplicate/triplicate (back-up) accounts? Lots of Zzzs too. Tons of them. Dan PS. How is that Pardon Day list of people coming along? How many "locked accounts" will get amnesty? Or has the plan fallen victim to amnesia? :) |

Are they mostly lurkers? Duplicate/triplicate (back-up) accounts? No, people regularly accessing TMP. Lots of Zzzs too. Tons of them. You see them because TMP is honest and shows you that information. Most other websites hide that info. People come and go. People forget their passwords and create new accounts. People drop in and out of the hobby. It's normal. How is that Pardon Day list of people coming along? How many "locked accounts" will get amnesty? Or has the plan fallen victim to amnesia? :) Next step is a follow-up poll, which is in the queue. |

"Next step is a follow-up poll, which is in the queue." Then that's good news! Dan |

Looking forward to the poll. Mabey we can change those zzzzzz to active members. |
