Its that time again. What are people bringing? I'm looking for some nicely painted 15mm AWI.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP20 Oct 2018 3:42 a.m. PST

Not this year. Actually, I guess the "nicely painted" would exclude me any year.

Mostly my son's 28mm fantasy and SF. A milk crate of paper and another of unpainted horse and musket, 28mm and 54mm.

Wish I could make it, I'd like to pick up reinforcements for my 15mm Flames of War Germans! The flea market is always a good source….Evilbay has been too spotty lately.

Maggot20 Oct 2018 10:16 a.m. PST

I'll be selling quite a bit of my 15mm collection, raw and painted. Ancients to WW1. Only a few raw AWI, though. I'll also be selling books, Gates of Antares, Star Wars imperial assault, and some 40k. I plan on leaving that booth empty handed. Folks who purchased from me before are usually pretty happy with both my low low prices and above table top quality paint jobs. I'll be there Saturday AM. Buy my stuff!

Headlune20 Oct 2018 1:19 p.m. PST

So it will be in the dark again ? Has the CD approached the HOST on lighting ? The last thing that hotel needs is a visit from the compliance people.

capncarp20 Oct 2018 1:24 p.m. PST

Saturday afternoon: gaming stuff (me) and weregild for wargaming widows--Mrs Carp will be bringing a selection of pretties and shinys at reasonable prices for your long-suffering (or in some cases, grateful for the break) spouse.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP20 Oct 2018 3:06 p.m. PST

Headlune, be fair to the Host. That area is meant to have a performer on stage, and everyone else more or less able to see their drinks. Given the way the room is built and painted, they'd have to rent the sort of banks of lights movie people used to use to make an impact. I blame the Host management for a number of things, but THEY aren't the people who decided that the flea market should be held in the darkest area available--at Midnight, when possible.

Note to organizers. If you need good lighting in an area, try not to pick rooms with flat black walls and ceilings. You'd think people who black prime figures wouldn't need to be taught this.

mildbill21 Oct 2018 3:25 a.m. PST

The only way the Host is still open is that they bribe the inspectors. That said, I still like the old pile of bricks.

masm611021 Oct 2018 7:21 a.m. PST

Hello Maggot, what are you selling in 15mm? .. I'm not attending Fall In…

-Mike

Maggot21 Oct 2018 3:21 p.m. PST

Romans, just about all periods
Dacians, Germans, Gauls, Spanish/Carthaginian
Vikings, Normans, Saxons
Greeks/Macedon
Some AWI, mainly British
WWI Germans, French, British, US some early some late
Couple others…
Old Glory, Splintered Light, Khurasan (sp), FOW, Corvus Belli.

Have a friend check them out.

DF200922 Oct 2018 10:50 a.m. PST

Not sure what I will dig out before the show but will have war/history books and a few board games with me and probably odd and ends like hot wheels/ matchbox cars and planes- maybe some loose figs from various periods… will def be a mix bag.
Looking for older GW stuff (before Age of Sigmar). Necromunda, Mordheim, 40k, Fantasty. My son wants to now play Warhammer Orks n' Goblins after I got rid of most of it years ago (go figure.) Also older Rpg books (mainly West End Games Star Wars) will have my "She don't know about it fund" with me…
Well I have to get going I think I see the Hoarders film crew in front of my house… -d.-

historygamer22 Oct 2018 11:16 a.m. PST

TSD101 – true 15mm or Blue Moon 15/18s? Any particular make in mind, as I do have some true 15mm for sale and nicely painted. Not likely selling in the FM this year.

War Scorpio22 Oct 2018 5:36 p.m. PST

I would like to see some WWII 20mm stuff. Kind of picky since all my collection is metal with a bit of resin. Mostly German and Russian dudes. Planes, tanks, etc. including buildings and other structures like bridges.

Haven't seem much of this lately at the flea, but did get a very nice Messerschmitt Bf 109 last year.

I know this fabulous scale for WWII is out there, why not bring it over and give it up for some cash!

Moe the Great22 Oct 2018 7:05 p.m. PST

I have a bunch of stuff but won't be at the flea market,, I'll be running the Toys for Tots table.

I will bring items to sell if there is an interest.

Dystopian wars boxed sets
Firestorm armada boxes
Terminator game
6mm Sci Fi
Historical buildings 28mm American civil war
Alpha Strike boxed lances
Renegade legion tank boxes
More to come..

TSD101 – true 15mm or Blue Moon 15/18s? Any particular make in mind, as I do have some true 15mm for sale and nicely painted. Not likely selling in the FM this year.

I'm open to either, although most of ours would be true 15s. Specifically looking for militia, rebel or loyalist, and continentals.

historygamer23 Oct 2018 6:39 a.m. PST

I have a number of Continental Regiments of Minifigs and some either from Washington's Wars or Mike Models (IIRC, aka – Modelers Mart?). Also have some Minifig riflemen. All painted and based.

I have some really well painted and based Essex Jaegers and Brit Lights in Royal Warrant kit.

I have about 30 or so well painted Minifig Brits, faced green, charging. Not based.

I also have two Continental Regiments of Polly Oliver painted and based – one in grey hunting shirts, another blue faced red coats.

I have a good assortment of unpainted Minifigs – Highlanders, Continentals in Hunting shirts.

Some Minifig and other General officer figures painted and based too. I think one or two gun stands and crews. Also von Bose painted and based as well.

I guess I have a lot of 15mm AWI. Never seemed to move well in the flea market so I quit brining it.

Can provide photos of all and offer a good price. :-)

Grumble8710623 Oct 2018 3:20 p.m. PST

I would like to see some WWII 20mm stuff.

I will be selling some WW II 20 mm 1/76 stuff on Sunday morning. Sorry, no metal or resin though, except for one unbuilt Universal Carrier. Plastic armor models (one or two unbuilt) and lots of plastic figures in zip-lock bags.

Plus:
Three sprues of Valiant US GI's.
About 20 white metal (maybe 28 mm) figures in fantasy armor. Don't know what era or manufacturer; a friend gave me them on consignment.
Board games on consignment from my nephew.
Painted 15 mm small armies or units also on consignment: ancient, medieval and Napoleonic.
I can't remember what else until I open the boxes marked "Flea Market".

DaleWill Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2018 9:07 a.m. PST

Looking for 6mm H&R Napoleonics. Almost any country.

historygamer24 Oct 2018 11:39 a.m. PST

I am curious if anyone has ever heard of how they do private sales/flea market at the Chicago Toy Soldier show – where people sell out of their hotel rooms? I wonder why that never caught on at HMGS shows? It seems like a novel idea, one that would also allow more floor space to be used for other purposes. Of course, in order to do that the seller would have to be staying at the Host.

Will do. :-)

vonLoudon26 Oct 2018 8:48 p.m. PST

I'm bringing those round press on lights. You just push on the face and they light up. 4 batteries needed per. Everybody should bring some. 2 for 4.00 at Walmart. They were $4.00 USD a piece at Lowes. 16 batteries will cost $12.00 USD. Hope that will solve the problem. I was thinking of just selling them, but that's too big an investment when I have actual toys to sell.

vonLoudon26 Oct 2018 8:57 p.m. PST

Also please clarify.Pre- Registration is where? Flea Market registration is where. Freight elevator is where? I am assuming the best entrance for flea market is handicapped ramp or through Distlefink freight elevator? Someone knowledgable please advise. Thanks.

TSD10127 Oct 2018 3:59 a.m. PST

What if I brought 100 dollar store flashlights and sold them at the Flea Market entry for 3 bucks apiece? The latest get rich quick scheme to support my hobby buying.

wargamingUSA27 Oct 2018 11:39 a.m. PST

Not going to make it to Fall In this year so what I set aside for the flea market goes online!

If you're looking for –
1/144th WWII aircraft (NIB US, German, Japanese),
20mm WWII (US, German, Japanese and a smattering of British, mostly NIB and unpainted, some painted),
20mm Vietnam (NIB US, VC, NVA),
true 25mm British Colonials (painted),
or NIB 28mm Sci-fi/Pulp,
drop me an email.

I am bringing an assortment of painted 15mm and 25mm ancients, Macedonians, punic wars, etc. dbx type basing.

Please delete me06 Nov 2018 6:40 a.m. PST

Always on the lookout for 28mm F&IW, WW2, Cowboys, Samurai, Gangs of Rome, and Saga.

Will have 200 bucks to spend, either in the flea or at the vendor.

Last couple of cons most of it's gone to vendors, let's see what folks got

CoffeeCooler06 Nov 2018 7:11 a.m. PST

TSD101, great idea but I would suggest the LED lights that you wear on your head. Leaves your hands free to inspect and purchase.

historygamer06 Nov 2018 9:27 a.m. PST

Is the Sunday flea market worth the time for buyers/sellers?

wargamingUSA06 Nov 2018 1:58 p.m. PST

Have a friend who consistently did Sunday mornings and he saaid it was always a good session for him.

Personal logo enfant perdus Supporting Member of TMP06 Nov 2018 11:28 p.m. PST

I have done pretty well as a seller on Sundays.

capncarp09 Nov 2018 8:53 p.m. PST

Saturday afternoon session Wally's Attic: I will have a _big_ bag of HO-scale buildings and scenery.
Come, look, make me an offer--you may get a really spectacular deal! Please don'y make me take this home!

Grumble8710610 Nov 2018 7:21 a.m. PST

I always sell on Sundays. Sometimes great, sometimes a bust. It depends, I think, on what I have to sell. ;-) But not always. Sometimes the right buyer just doesn't happen to come by.

capncarp11 Nov 2018 7:53 p.m. PST

Will the gentleman who purchased the book on WW1 warships in Wally's Attic on Saturday afternoon from the merchant with all the HO-scale buildings please contact me to arrange getting it to you somehow?

Grumble8710611 Nov 2018 10:02 p.m. PST

Very pleased with my sales on Sunday morning in Wally's Attic -- and so were the customers, judging by their response.
