Question: Just how big were French naval flags?

Answer: See link below…

16m by 8.3m (52ft by 27ft)!

Wow! – I seem to recall on the film Master & Commander the French ship had a very large flag.

But in 1/1200 scale, that's only 13 by 6.75 mm. So, call it 1/2 by about 1/4 inches.

Thanks, BrianW. I was worried my flags on my 1:1200 ships were too big.

Still, the real deal is impressively BIG!

God bless,
John T.

John, are your models GHQ?

John Tyson20 Oct 2018 1:45 p.m. PST

Timmo uk, yes they are GHQ.

I don't think your flags look bad at all.

Thanks they look excellent and I like your basing. I think clear plastic works better than anything else for ships.

And there were bigger …

Yes. That flag is vast.

Your models look lovely. :-)
