I needed some extra stuff. The Boxer is a new version available from AOTRS Shipyards soon. Its the same moddel but now the turret has a built in retaining feature so it turns and is basicaly retained except at one position. A major advance as far as I am concerned.

The Iltis jeep model is one I commissioned and will be available from Shipyards at some point. I have had a chat to Alex and I will be able to add another version of the Iltis for no increase in price. This will be the version with a Milan mounted on the horizontal section of the anti Roll bar.

Certainly this is OK for the canadians and possibly for the Germans.

I required the Iltis it with crew as personaly there is nothing worse than an un-crewed vehicle on the battlefield.

Do I want a man fireing the Milan? Not sure about that one.

These pics are of models off my home printer. Alex is looking at supplying a home printed version of his models it will be cheaper for folks in Europe, the US is always a problem with postage. I will post the costs of these two when I get Alex to tell me how much they will be.

Note got a bit heavy handed on some of the models and broke the wing mirrors off. The wing mirrors are an experiment to see how long they last. They are not as tough as on the SLS version so we will see. Must say I am very pleaed with these as wargames models. Interestingly the line on the Iltis windscreen is more noticeable on the photo than in real life. proably becuse the picture is bigger than the real thing.

If anybody really wanted the Iltis with the soft top on it may be possible to pursuade Alex to do that version as well.

Canadian Iltis is identical to German vehicle, made by Bombardier in Canada.

No Milan in Canadian service, but if I remember correctly, there were some vehicles fitted for TOW, with a trailer carrying reloads. The trailer was the same 1/4 ton trailer used with the Willy's and MUTT version jeeps.

Bhall389, I have seen the TOW version along with the Milan one so I came to the conclusion they were both Canadian OOPPS! Interesting I have not seen a trailer with the tow version, would be interesting to see a pic if you have one.

Looks good.

I'd like a soft-top option too.

Did they ever mount SS-11 anti-tank missiles on the back of them, firing backwards, like on some of the other "jeeps"?

If so, I "need" some of those too.

Milan, is a nice touch.

Tresher, not sure the cnadians or germans ever had SS11's TRhre were not many oplaces that bought Iltis the majority were German and canadian.

Thresher is that fully enclosed (fabric doors), or just the soft top?

UshCha20 Oct 2018 2:54 a.m. PST

I finaly got hold of Alex. The Boxer in FDM is £7.00 GBP and the Iltis in FDM will be £3.20 GBP when released.

Germans used SS-11s – ground and jeep mounted.

Had them on their Jagdpanzers too – Jagdpanzer Raketes, from the early 1960s.

Thresher, You are obviously correct about the Germans having SS11. However the Iltis only went into production in 1978 which was the end of production of the SS11. More likely the "jeep" used was the DKW Munga.

Thresher0121 Oct 2018 4:57 p.m. PST

Ah, I see.

You are correct on the Munga, and I do recall seeing them on the back of that.

UshCha22 Oct 2018 1:10 a.m. PST

I suspect the only way you would getr a Munga is to commission one. Shipyards is proably the cheapest and thats normally about £50.00 GBP for the model but you can buy the models a bit cheaper.

I was on the pre production test of the Iltis along with Bombardier. We towed the 1/4 ton trailer for that test in all conditions (pavement, gravel, offroad).

The trailer was supposed to be towed for reloads and kit stowage for the TOW crew as there was not any room left on the vehicle.

To be honest, I think the trailer would be left somewhere, as most drivers would hate backing that thing up.

Any pictures I have seen show no trailer with the TOW vehicle, but I know that was the intent.

bhall389 that is very interesting. I must admit all the pictures I have seen when looking did not show a trailer with the tow. Interesingly the pictures of the Milan version did show re-loads sometimes strapped to the vertical of the roll cage. So pics with relaods are not unheard of, does make you wounder why the TOW vehicles are not shown with a trailer.
