"Rivalry escalates amid concerns over trade, as warships nearly collide and an FBI trap angers Beijing

The US and China have shrugged off rules and constraints that have kept their 21st-century global rivalry in check, opening the way for an escalating conflict on many fronts that neither side appears willing or able to stop.

Chinese officials have accused Washington of starting a new cold war, but the jostling between the two powers has already shown its potential to turn hot through accident or miscalculation, if action is not taken to defuse tensions…."

The trade war is what is driving U.S. – Chinese tension right now, and it will get worse when U.S. tariffs are fully implemented. Here is an easy prediction …. 2019 is going to be worse.

Too bad this "Cold War" will probably end by 2020.

Early 2025, at the soonest, 28mm, unless the Chinese cave, and I'm not sure that will happen.

Those dates are when the next election for President happens here, Tango, and January is when he or she will be inaugurated.

28mm Fanatik: "Too bad this ‘Cold War' will probably end by 2020"

Too bad? Oh yeah, I forget about sarcasm from others at times.

Anyway, seeing as how the Cold War has been fought one-sided for a long time until recently, and seeing as how the issue with Communist China's invasion of the South China Sea reefs and the building of their military's artificial islands began in May of 2009, without any real opposition from the US until just very recently …

This could well be the moment when the Cold War with Communist China finally ends, probably soon after 2024, when the bendoverist policy with the PRC resumes: :)

Who knows? Communist China might not be happy with the bank transactions and phone records that they've collected already and, by then, might already have plans to also have your DNA on their database.

Actually, China is starting to cave already. Their economy is slowing down, 90 days ago their stock market dropped 500 points and hasn't recovered, their currency was recently devalued, and they are starting to have some internal unrest. 10 days ago they dropped some of their restrictive tariffs.

Also, the Chinese economy, while deep, is very narrow. Without exports they are in deep trouble. And while they have the outward veneer of a semi free-market system, it is still a central control economy with all decisions made by the ruling party. And because of this it is very slow to react to changes and make adaptations. A communist system by its very definition is inflexible.

So don't worry, PDJT is winning this one.
