Just wondering if anyone has recently been able to order (and more importantly receive) any decals from Dom?

Thresher0113 Oct 2018 2:04 p.m. PST

I read that he is trying to catch up with his backlog, a month or two ago.

Don't know what his status is currently, so you might inquire with him.

alan L13 Oct 2018 2:30 p.m. PST

I did send an email but no response yet.

Judging by the tales of woe that have been posted here in recent months I'd save myself the grief and look elsewhere.

Dom's a nice guy with good product but I think I would look elsewhere until he catches up

I am still waiting for an order from July 2017!! Or rather I have given up.
I have sent several emails requesting goods or refund and got no reply to any.
If I were you I wouldn't go near.

There are a lot of threads on the Consumer board about Dom taking money but not filling orders, so definitely donīt order from him.
I tried the send paypal invoice option so I wasnīt out anything, but Dom still has not replied to either inquiry I sent him about my order.

I see his banner ads are still running, so I can only assume he is paying Bill for the advertising, but I really donīt see any other excuse other than fraud that can account for his continuing to take orders (and money!) when he has shown no desire to fill them.
I also donīt understand why Bill continues to run his ads when it is clear TMPers are being ripped off.

As for decals, I bought some fine tip markers and drew my own on my 1/300th aircraft, and found it to be relatively easy and fun. Itīs also a nice feeling to not be a slave to decals.

Thanks. Texas Jack, any particular type of pen that you suggest? I just wonder if I would be able to draw the like of USAAF Stars.

@alan L
I bought pens with the finest point. If youīre doing WWI donīt forget green for Italian roundels!
The stars are indeed a bit of a pain, but my trick is to paint a white circle (couldnīt find a white marker) and use blue to make the outline of the star, much easier than trying to do it the other way around, at least for me.
Thereīs definitely a learning curve, but if you practice a bit before you do it for real it will be fine.

Hereīs what inspired me to go decal free:

I ordered from him on 11/7/17, sent the money and have not heard a word from him sense and have sent him at least 4 email . So if you want to loose some money deal with DOM .

I can definitely recommend Flight Deck Decals as an alternative source of decals…excellent range and Dan is great to deal with.

This is on Dom's website:

"Just a quick update to say I'm doing what I probably should have done a while ago now, sorry, and not taking new orders for a bit while I get properly caught up. Many apologies to those waiting patiently (or even impatiently) for orders; this year's been a perfect storm of ropey health, temperamental emails, work (over-)commitments and a healthy dollop of uselessness from me, which has all added up to rather a big trainwreck, sorry.

So, umm, yeah, I'm still here, still filling orders (far too slowly, but hopefully a bit of holiday time from the "day job" and stopping new decal orders for a bit will let me turn that around), and slowly getting my **** together. Oh, and I even have a new email address, as the dom@domsdecals.com one seems to be getting spam filtered into oblivion – I'll still receive any emails sent to that, but expect any replies to come from domsdecals@gmail.com from now on – apologies if my email response time is still somewhat patchy while I'm catching up.

Dom, November 2018."

I'll be honest and say that I've not ordered from Dom's Decals for a couple of years, but when I did the service and product were excellent, so I will continue once he's sorted the problems – maybe I'll regret it, but for me wargaming thrives on small niche suppliers so I want to support them if I can.

Perhaps if I had an outstanding order from a year ago, like many here, I would feel differently.

Nick

Glad he's still alive!
You never know these days.

despite dropping people in it when he's on song he's good.
I had to drop a job in july myself due to a sudden health crisis and it's bloody frustrating for everyone

We're sorry to say that we have not had any communication from Dom for over 1 year, he seems to be out of business. We have not received a re-stock that we paid for over 2 years ago. We are closing out our remaining stock of Dom's Decals – get 19% off through April 19th (coupon COVID-19). Get 'em before they're gone. msdgames.com
