What's the best scale for games centered around Mecha?

3mm
6mm
8mm
10mm
12mm
15mm
20mm
25mm/28mm?

Depends on the size of the Mecha. For Mecha that are tank sized I like 6mm, for Mecha that are human size then 15mm

6mm is the only true big stompy robot scale!

1/285- technically, 6mm is not a scale, but rather a size.

1/144 about 10mm.

I would say it depends on a number of things
A. Supporting characters – if accompanied by other vehicles or even soldiers.
B. Play area size
C. Unit Scale – 1:1 or 1:X
D. Size of Mecha in relation to Human

Smaller scales will most likely proclude the use of infantry or other vehicles but allow for lots of Mecha on table
Larger scales would allow for more supporting units but limit the tactical level to that of more skirmish style game for mechs.

In the end it will mostly come down to individual preference.

Game on!!

8mm, Iam loving my new Titans

6 or 3mm … And now maybe GW's new scale 8mm … But I'm sticking to the original Titans from the past. Though not really 6mm as advertised, which would be 1/300. They are in fact 1/500 which is more like 3mm. The new 8mm are more in scale with the older 6mm-1/300 Epic Infantry, AFVs, etc. … generally …

"Talk about scale creep !!" huh?

For mechacentric battles: 1/144, N scale, 12mm is the bestest!

While I have a couple of hundred of 1/285 BattleMechs, the best size is the 3" plastic kits of the sort that came with Battledroids. I have a few dozen of those. The scale listed on the boxes varies depending on manufacturer from 1/144 to 1/200, but they are all about twice as tall as the 1/285 Ral Partha figures.
