Dr. Robert "Mongo the Magnificent" Frederickson. (See the works of George C. Chesbro.) Does Miles Vorkosigan make the height standard? After that I'll have to scrounge. Poul Anderson has one in Three Hearts and Three Lions at least worth nominating, not to mention the ones in Hawk the Slayer and The Warlord. And who was the attorney on LA Law? (And was he the same as the one on Ally McBeal?) If we're going to do this, we ought to to it right! |

Oh, good one, Dan! How could I have forgotten Dr. Loveless and his plan to equalize the stature of mankind? Of course, today it would have to be personkind, but still… |

And Volc from The Warlord. "I will make a slave of him, so he will make a lord of me." So much of human history in one sentence! |

Thanks for the images of Michael Dunn! Reminds me to add Alexander, from the Star Trek episode Plato's Stepchildren. Regardless of what you think of the episode, the character of Alexander was excellent, and masterfully portrayed by Dunn. (One aspect often overlooked is how well he carried off the impression of being "controlled" by his mental overlords. His movement and action completely and instantly conveyed that idea. The final "mental duel" between Kirk and Parnem is almost entirely based on the movements and actions of Alexander. Dunn makes the viewer believe he is under the conflicting control of two wills other than his own. Yet it's simply the actor using his own gestures, expression, and body movements to create that illusion. No wonder Dunn was nominated for an Oscar and a Tony in other roles. Like Peter Dinklage, his talent was far more than just being unusual in appearance.) |
