Didnt he want to be allowed to go to England? |

That's because he hadn't seen Braintree, Slough, Bracknell or Dewsbury Moor. |

No Alamo for Nappy as he would still be brown bread by 1821, through cancer of the guts. "Contrary to Blucher's opinion, Napoleon did not deserve to be executed, nor did he deserve to be exiled to St Helena." So what did he deserve? A stiff talking to by the Duke? A day on the naughty step? Sent to bed without his supper? |

Napoleon thought he was or lead to believe he was going to be sent to England. |

It's possible he misunderstood overhead references to his being 'sent to Coventry.' |

Well, he could clearly have been hanged for treason in 1815, of course, using his own logic when he had d'Enghien judicially murdered. The Bourbons were the legitimate government, which he plotted to overthrow. They would have been on more solid ground in whacking him than he was when he had d'Enghien whacked, however. Napoleon's regime was only legitimate because he said it was, whereas the Bourbons' was legitimate because everyone agreed it was, including most of the Marshalate. It certainly wouldn't have required a fiddled show trial where the fix was already in to convict him. I think Braintree is a bit harsh. The Azores? Cape Verde? Not quite so off the track and nice weather. |
