Just reading through KGC ruleset. Is it possible to play the game where a base is a comapny rather than a platoon?

I have a large collection of 6mm AFV/infantry based as companies on 75mm frontage bases which is about what is recommended for companies in 6mm in the ruleset.

Is it that the game mechanism makes it critical that platoons move independently or can they move collectively as companies.

Thanks

John,

The game is really scaled for platoons. I'd suggest using your current basing and playing with the larger ground scale suggested for 15mm and larger scale figures. Should look good for space to figure ratios.

You could use a roster system. If a company has 3 platoons with 2 hits each, you could give the company 3 fire dice to start and lose one for each 2 hits the company takes.

Thanks, my troops are set up for Rommel, which I like. I was just curious.

Going with a larger table is not really an option as I am limited to 6x4'.

I was thinking a roster system might work but only if it is OK if the platoons never move independently and only as a company.

We actually play it more like companies anyway. For example, we don't use the fussy which-stand-can-engage-which-enemy-stand rules for close combat, we just assume that over 1/2 hour both commanders could get their whole companies involved. It works fine.

There are, IMHO, a lot of places where KGC goes down to a level of detail that interferes with playability, but I don't currently have time to start listing them.
