I am collecting miniatures with a view to gaming the French Retreat from Moscow. I am hoping to have all the figures painted by December. I was lucky to find that I had twenty or so French infantry in greatcoats already in my collection. I put them together with the Ney figure I got from France for this PhotoShop vignette.

Great photo!

Armies in Plastic makes a nice set of mounted Russian Cossacks you might be able to convert for your project.

They are carrying slung bolt action rifles, but the plastic is quite easy to trim away.

dBerczerk, thanks for the link. I ended up buying two packs. I am going to have to remount them, though, as the AIP horses tower over the other manufacterer's horses and the Cossacks were supposed to ride hardy little ponies!
