Evening all, Call to all fellow users of the Blogger platform, which is a fair few of us Blogmiesters, many of us will have seen that Google + is going to switch off in 8 to 10 months time. It was only a couple of three years ago that Blogger forced everyone onto Google plus if they wanted to comment on a Blogger post directly. I have had a trawl and can't see any news on how the closure will affect blogs in general, clearly a new method of comments will be needed. Any thought, comments, knowledge, welcome. One of the reasons I don't post comments on blogs is the requirement that I prove I am an actual human being. I get it, without that they just get spammed. It's just a hassle that I don't need. |

Same here. Time to stop blogging and get on with your life, few people reads the posts anyway. |

I always liked Blogger until I managed to lock myself out of my account. Hopefully the comments issue will be resolved. if not you can always migrate over to Wordpress with me. Good luck. |

Interesting. As a long term Blogger the thought that years of Blogging could be lost fills me with trepidation but what are the (simple) options. As an aside – there are many Blogging posts that I find very useful, will they just disappear? Tony dampfpanzerwagon.blogspot.com |

I don't believe the blogs are going away. In question is the ability to add comments…. |

Only an issue if you added Google Plus to your blog and/or have a Google Plus identity, as far as I can tell. I didn't like Google Plus to begin with, so stuck with the base Google ID for myself and for followers on my blog. |

Cheers for the input to date, The blogs themselves aren't going away, thankfully, after all they are a great source of information and YG is read by many humans and muppets alike. It's the comments section, edmuel2000 the problem is I don't recall Blogger giving you a choice you had to link to Google plus. Anyhoo the issue remains. Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

I never liked Google+ – didn't have much use for it. I actually tried to find a post made on it that featured a picture of something I made made and I could not find it even though I looked everywhere I could in that "group" or "community" or whatever they were called. Useless, as far as I could see. |

A week or so I changed my options to allow anyone to comment. It was previously only allowing Google+ accounts to post. I got quite a bit of spam so I had to go and change the settings to allow me to moderate them and noticed the restriction. Now I suppose I won't get any comments. |

I hope that Blogger isn't affected too bad. I enjoy reading wargaming and modelling blogs. |

I agree with edmuel2000. I never turned on Google+ commenting on my blog and anyone with a Google account may comment. |

Sounds like there maybe a solution, especially D A THB, I will have a look myself, but is that on the Blogger platform ? I am no fan of Google plus either and kind of felt pressured into signing up first time round. Just shows my lack of tech savvy, give me an analogue paint brush and some paint and I know what I'm doing ! Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

Well, I've tried it, all my comments have now disappeared ! Hopefully they will come back if I switch them back on. I hate computers. I have a new post to go up tonight so will try that without the Google plus comments see what happens. Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |
