How long can a poll suggestion remain on the waiting list before it is posted? There are polls being posted that were suggested years ago. So long that the person who suggested it has forgotten about it and it was such a hot topic that nobody else suggested it. It was so important to the person who suggested it that he hasn't followed up on it. The poll may no longer be relevant. I would say a poll suggestion that has not been posted within a year should be deleted for lack of interest. How long do you think it should be before the poll suggestion is given the old heave-ho? |

I wonder how long it will be before this poll is posted? Probably four years, after I have totally forgotten about it and haven't followed up on it. |

Depends on the topic. Some polls will be OBE, but others should probably be re-run about every five years looking for changes. Thinking of things like the recent poll on figures owned, or any of the polls on favorite rules for a given period. |

One year. Tops. Some polls that are 5 years are truly bizarre. Any topic that "needs" to be repeated should have to be re-suggested. |

My supporting membership extends into 2024, based solely on Polls run that I suggested. Some were so old they made no sense. Many were so old I forget that I even suggested them. I've seen polls along the line of "Who makes the best Slobbovian Czar's Caterers Horse Grenadiers in 28mm?" that are several years old. And in the meantime, two more companies have produced them but are not included. I think any Poll Suggestion older than a year is past its shelf life. |

Most poll suggestions become polls about six months after the pre-poll discussion has ended. If there are too many suggestions, the surplus go into the backlog. We usually run three or four polls per week from the backlog, these days mostly going back to 2014. (There's another Bond girls poll suggestion from 2012 that I haven't run yet, since we've done the topic so often lately.) Most poll suggestions are just as applicable now as they were when suggested. However, I did decline to run a poll suggestion recently asking for predictions for Superbowl 2014. |

I think the issue of Dwarf cavalry needs answering now. |

If I run a poll who on was the best military leader during the hundred years war, Jean D'Arc or The Black Prince. I highly doubt much will change in 1, 2 or 5 years. |

If no one else proposes a similar poll and that person was so hot about who was the best military leader during the Hundred Years War. Then he should re-suggest it after a year has passed and otherwise bug Dear Editor about it. There should be an expiration date on the suggestion. |

So if there's nothing new to say on a topic (like a list of Trafalgar ships, commanders, tactics, of weapons) we should rehash the same discussion every year or so? |
