Great photos. There was a Canadian artillery battery attached to the mixed British and American force at Archangel, and the whole force with allied White troops fought a battle on Nov 11, 1918 against the Bolshevik forces.

Some of the photos clearly show the North Russia Intervention Force badge on the upper arms (white star on blue background). I'm interested in the curious covers some of the British soldiers were over their peaked caps – possibly mosquito netting?

I think you're correct – it looks like mosquito netting.
Modern version still looks similar.
