Some of you may be unaware that back in 1979 Metagaming publishing a microgame two-pack called "Annihilator & One World", the latter designed by none other than The Editor:

It was one of the first sci-fi boardgames I ever bought. While Annihilator is straightforward, One World is pretty trippy.

Do you own a copy? Have you played?

1. Owned, played
2. Owned, not played
3. Not owned, played
3. Not owned, not played

What can I say? Back in the day I bought all small board games. Ahh, the Fantasy trip, proof you didn't need D&D to live. Ogre still going strong. Stalins tanks which didn't get what it deserved. Starfleet Battles which just grew and grew. Rivets!

It was part of my addiction. But I'm cured now and never, ever scour the web looking for old board games I used to have or play.

3. My friends and I had all of the Metagames among us, but I don't think that any one of us had all of them.

I have bought France 1940 and 1776 three times apiece. Hopefully never again. On France 1940 I just keep a copy to stop the madness.

Boy, talk about a poll that is definitely not an ego booster. grin

I deliberately didn't include "Never heard of it".

Now you have. Go play! :)

1. I've still got my copy and have played it many times. Would make a weird/cool RPG setting.

2. It didn't get the best reviews in the day. I bought it to see for myself what it was like. It's better than the reviews, but not up to Metagaming's best. I suspect the company was already on a downslide.

Though I do own "Hot Spot" by our esteemed Editor, and a few other Microgaming games, all of which I acquired secondhand long after the hey day of the company.
I seem to recall seeing the Annihilator/One World set for sale somewhere in the last few years, but I didn't go for it.

Never heard of either.
