Is it better to use SYW Prussians, 1806 Prussians or AWI war French with different heads (Or the same heads!). Does anyone have a suggestion? |

You did not mention figure size but for 15mm, I used Eureka's 1806 Saxons as Piedmontese. Eureka's Saxons: link |

That's because when I mention scale people dont answer the uniform question, they just tell me about a range of figures. Dont get me wrong, that's fine but I wanted more of an answer about the cut and the style of the uniforms more than just whats available. One reason I am asking this way is it's hard for me to tell whether they wore a proper SYW Prussian Tricorne, A French AWI Tricorne or an 1806 style Prussian Bicorne. It seems like the cut of the coat is close to the French AWI uniform but I am not positive. |

SYW Prussians are a better match. I checked on this while doing research for a computer game on the battles in Northern Italy from 1796-1800. There is a nice website that shows their uniform styles and flags. Here you go: bandieresabaude.it/Bandiere033.html |

very interesting uniforms – the Sardinians, long coat tails, more like the French but then waistbelt and turned down collar, what is with French Infantry of the 7YW? |

Thank you to HH for that link; what a brilliant website. My next project is Italy 1796 and I had been thinking that a Piedmontese brigade would be nice. Unfortunately, my Google searches kept throwing up the same few units and flags. I can see myself painting a couple of brigades now. |

Sorry to come back with range of figures, but in 28 mm the Emperor Toads Emporium is about to edit 28 mm Dutch 1793 infantry, who look quite Sardinians: long coat; falling collars, hats… Not 100% accurate of course but quite close. Here is a link to have an idea: link There are still questions about the grenadiers heads, and it would be useful to have a look on backpacks, canteens … Anyways, hope that helps. |

Did the Sardinian Army carry back packs then? For AWI French the coat looks right with the exception of the standing up collar as well as cross belts. French infantry of the 7YW did have turn backs, as well as lapels – as well as – at least for some producers waist belts. |
