If you like Ancients, but are so booked up you'll never have the time and resources to participate, and especially if you like historical battles vice tournament play, FOG2, a direct port of the miniatures rules to the computer, is for you. Here is their latest DLC, the Rise of Persia.

I'm right in the middle of a Nebuchadnezzar II campaign from that DLC. I never really liked FoG as a tabletop set of rules, but I must say that FoG 2 is absolutely one of my favourite computer games. The game has changed a lot from the printed version, but all for the better.

The game itself, and the first three DLC are all deeply discounted right now on GOG.

Playing the Ashurbanipal campaign; boy do the Assyrians need a big iron umbrella for the huge arrow storm!
The only recourse is to send in those Footguards and hope they break first.
