Hi, I'd like to know if anyone is familiar with alternate rules for use with the Star Wars CMG by WOTC? This doesn't count the WEG game, I already know about it and want to get it (any rules for Prequel-era stuff in the WEG game would be helpful. Anyone?) Links would be helpful, as well as opinions of the appropriateness of the rulesets for Star Wars. Thanks for any help! |

Also, note that I would like rules to handle both skirmish actions and possibly larger-scale—Clone Wars, anyone;), as well as rules to cover lightsaber duels and such. I'd like rules help with either aspect. Thanks again! |

I've played Chain Reaction based SW games before, and they work out pretty well. The Two Hour Wargames yahoo group has some fan-submitted SW stats in it, and some archived discussion on the topic. |

Just about any generic rules set (and even some non-generic ones) will work. I personally favor Shock Force. |

Warhammer 40K Seperatist=Necrons Republic=Eldar Empire=Space Marines Rebels=Imperial Guard It'll be even better once the vehicles and creatures come out August 19th. I do keep meaning to try Chain Reaction however. (And FWIW, the WOTC Star Wars Rules are pretty cool too.) |

there's some free mods for Savage Worlds out there. |

There was a SW Ares (from Majestic 12) varient out there as well. Never tried it though. |

The Two Hour Wargames system with the Star Wars weapons charts from the Yahoo group work pretty well
although it begs the question of "special abilities" for specific aliens and Jedi

Aetherverse will take care of all those aspects. You'll have to stat out some light sabre tricks but as you will probably be playing more than a few times
will be worth it. There are several similar powers to some of the force ones to give you an idea of what the points should be like. |

Hate to aound like a sock puppet (I'm not in case you are wondering
:P ) but SuperSystem and its spinoff Chaos in Cairo can cover just about anything that you want. All you need is a little imagination, and you are good to go. Hope this helps. Cheers, Eric |

I run the Ares variant several times. It works quite well. We had around 40-60 figs on the table. The games lasted about 1.5-2 hours. Thanks, John |

I just did a battle report on a Savage World Star Wars game I ran. It was a skirmish, but I think it could have run larger without much difficulty. Here's a link, if you're interested. TMP link

There is a Star Wars Miniatures Battles Yahoo group that has the stats for Ep 1&2. I haven't seen Ep 3 up there yet. (Thes are for the WEG game) The group is link There is of course information for the WOTC game also. |

Wow, that's a lot of good info. I was wondering about the power of lightsabers in the WEG game. Can they deflect blaster shots, for example? Do those rules cover lightsaber duels, as well, or could house rules be written for them? Thanks again for all of the good options! |

I seem to recall reading that in the WEG rules. |

Uh, you recall reading what? I asked several things in that post. I assume you mean either rules for lightsaber duels, or rules for deflecting blaster shots. Note that I'm not asking for actual rules (copyright issues) but simply the sorts of things covered in the rules manual. Also, what table sizes are used for the WEG rules? |

I forgot to mention that a nicely done Star Wars conversion for Slammer also is available. Thanks, John |

I'd appreciate links to the Ares and Slammer conversions, please. I've found the Savage Worlds one already. |

link you might need to sign up. Also Defiance: Vital Ground from MJ12 games is good for several squads and a vehicle or two, but you'll have to stat the troops up yourself. |

I'm sorry for not replying sooner. It's too easy to lose track of a thread at TMP. Here is the link to the Slammer Yahoo group. The various Star Wars files are there. link Thanks, John |

We play a lot with 'We can be heroes' generic set from task force productions – there are some conversion stats around somewhere but it is easy to make the characters up. |
