I thought they'd gone out of business, but looked on-line, and it appears I'm incorrect.

Looks like they still offer the little tins in enamels, and now also offer acrylics too.

Anyone used their acrylics?

How do they compare to the Humbrol enamels, and other people's acrylics?

Looking for RAF colors for my WWII bombers, so need #29 and #30, Dark Earth and Dark Green.

Last I recall, from eons ago, they were the go-to match for standard RAF and other modeling paints. Testor's Model Master too, in some cases.

Humbrol paints are still around.

Must admit I have moved from their enamels, to acrylics and now mainly onto Vallejo. That is mainly due to colour choices not particularly quality.

Their acrylics match their enamels colour wise so if you have used the 29 and 30 enamels you won't notice much if any difference in colours.

The above is all an opinion of course and others may disagree but if you are trying to match 29 and 30 enamels, the acrylics are a good start.
Cheers

They have been doing acrylics for about 30 years – they cover well and are very matt – they have recently improved the pots(I really wish Citadel would)but I think the paint is the same – yet to test

Humbrol paints are a bit tricky to get hold of at the moment. There was a fire at the factory that makes their enamels. Back in production again.
The acrylics – appear to be made at the same factory as Coat d'Arms, Foundry etc. Lots of colours are out of stock on Humbrol website. Some are now in same bottles as Cd'A and Foundry, perhaps the switch in bottle is causing a delay?

I have quite a few of their acrylics in my paint collection I really like them. I have yellow from them that is the best yellow hobby pain I've ever had really good coverage even on black undercoat.

A fire in their factory! That's the fifth time I've heard that story since the late 1970's. Why haven't the British authorities shut them down? They are an obvious safety hazard. (Seriously, Humbrol was THE paint we relied on for quality and color choices.)

Humbrol don't make their own enamels anymore, their factory was shut down a few years ago. Rustin's make the enamels for Humbrol. The fire was in January this year. (May have been the warehouse rather than the factory)

I have been and continue to use Humbrol enamels since the 70s. With some recent exceptions, they are great paints.

KYPD38; thanks for the Humbrol update.
