Yesterday I took a trip to the big city, Tulsa. It has the nearest Barnes & Nobles brick and mortar store. I went there to buy me some B&N exclusives.

So the games that I had gone looking for were Space Marine Adventures and Blitz Bowl. Both were on my wants list. But sadly BB turned out to be $5 USD more than I thought, so I had to leave that one behind. Next time though it will be mine.

So far I have played the first level of the Labyrinth twice. I got a minor victory with Cassius, Grimm, Gabriel, and Frostclaw. It was a minor win because Frostclaw got himself fragged by the second turn. But the rest made it through with a couple wounds here and there.
On my second go I replaced Frostclaw with Infernus and the rest stayed the same. This time I pulled off a major win, but it was close… very close. Lots of wounds and some tense movement through the halls.

There are still four more board layouts to try for level one and then two more levels after that, each using the six board layouts. Then there is the Campaign mode with all the board layouts.

So even though the game play doesn't really change from game to game, your way through the maze and the objective location does.

I doubt this game has a super long replay factor, but I think it will have enough shelf life to get my $40 USD worth. But then I paid $40 USD for Lost Patrol well over a year ago and I still play that every couple weeks. So hard to say really how long this one will last.

Next month I will be getting that Blitz Bowl though…

Played it last night with the family and we had a good time. I bought some Necron miniatures to use instead of the tokens and just sprayed them silver to give them a board game token feel. I hope they Plan to have more games like this in the future.

I too was thinking about picking up some Necron figures. You can get everything you need for them in their "Start Collecting" box, except for the Lychguard.
All told that is about another $100 USD invested in the game. Makes sense when you look at it that way, why they made them tokens rather than making it a $125 USD-$140 game box. Not really a good price point for cross marketing.
