I recently picked up a couple of 1/285 BattleTech Mobile Headquarters trucks to use for Mobile Command Posts in Ogre. The I started wondering which game do they get used in more often. Over the years, I think I have only ever seen them used in Ogre Games and never seen them used in BattleTech games. If you have used either the old Ral Partha, or the new Iron Wind Mobile Headquarters, which game do you use them in more frequently? * BattleTech * Ogre * Epic * Future War Commander * Other, please describe. * I play 6mm sci-fi games but have never used them. * I don't play 6mm sci-fi games.

I've never used them at all in any game. I always thought they were goofy. |

If these are the same trucks, I used them as field kitchens in Striker. |

They are used in convoy missions in the new battletech computer game as targets. |

Hmm, computer game still doesn't count as seeing the miniature on the table. |

In a campaign of my own rules, I allowed any 6mm vehicle/mech/whatever to be used with the condition that as GM, I defined capabilities. I had an engineering system, admittedly a tad convoluted but it worked, that allowed you to build your own version of whatever model you had. Players got quite creative in trading off speed, range, power, and so on to make everything fit AND have enough engine 'horsepower' to power all the weaponry. We've carried that through with Epic (2nd edition). If it's sci-fi looking and vaguely in scale, then you can use it as long as the GM sets the capabilities. |

Russ, have any of your players used this model on the table? |

Not that specific model, but that unit is pretty useful in MechWarrior. They make a good auxiliary or HVU in other, generic, scifi games. |

>Russ, have any of your players used this model on the table? Not that particular model, but other Battletech mechs and vehicles. |

I've used them. Not so much as a combat unit but as an objective in a scenario. They make a great fluffy unit to put into a game. You know, your force breaks through and rushes the enemy's regimental HQ. So now the bad guy has to try to exit the thing off the board in one piece. Stuff like that makes for a more fun game than the usual mech bashing. |

I actually use the Coolant Truck for OGRE instead of this. |

The Coolant Truck would work well for a CP too. Although I really like Desert Scibe's use of them as fire trucks. |

I use one for my Dirtside II games. It sits at the back of the table, avoiding trouble, but is definitely present! |

Well if it is not used as a TOC/HQ … paint it in bright colors and make it a really tricked out RV ! Like in that old Bill Murry movie, "Stripes" … the EM50 … Now that is an OBJ worth taking !!!! |
