Howdy,

On Saturday, Sept 22nd, we were one again In the Stans for modern skirmish action. The game was played at Hobbytown in Frederick, Maryland, and was a playtest for a game to be presented at FALL IN. The draft rules, So Convenient for Hewing were used with 15mm figures.

National Army forces have a squad sized combat outpost on the outskirts of a small village. National Army forces consist of a senior leader and a squad in the outpost. The relief force consists is platoon sized – a leadership element (senior leader and scout), and 3 squad elements.

As our game beings the Muffintops have taken up positions on the hills above the outpost. Muffintop forces had two objectives: (1) Destroy the National Army Outpost, and (2) Defeat the relief force. The Muffintop forces consists of 2 senior leaders, 5 elements, and heavy weapons support (MG & Mortar).

Photo 1 – At start, the village and outpost. The initial Muffintop fusillade surprised the defenders, who promptly failed morale and fell back into the village. The outlined "wooded" areas represent hills rising above the valley.

Photo 2 – Another view, at start, looking over a Muffintop position toward the outpost.

Photo 3 – Muffintop scouts look for the approach of a relief force.

Photo 4 – Outpost defenders driven back into village, as Muffintop forces move down off the hills into the valley. Green markers mark units which have failed morale.

Photo 5 – The relief force moves along the ridge toward the outpost. A brief firefight drives back a Muffintop security element (the scout). The scout wildly sprays fire, and empties their weapons (blue marker).

Photo 6 – The relief force deploys and advances along the ridge.

Photo 7 – National Army figures, a closer look.

Photo 8 – Muffintop forces move into the outpost area.

Photo 9 – A Muffintop sniper knocks out the last machine gun in the outpost, and the last of the outposts defenders is captured.

Photo 10 – The relief force has cleared one of the ridges above the village.

The game ends a Muffintop victory --- they overran the outpost. However, they did not defeat the relief force. Additional battles will result In the Stans. The players all seemed to enjoy the game, and it looks like a really fun scenario for FALL IN.

Photo 3 – End of play, relief force has moved down the valley

Photo 4 – End of play, at the outpost

Muffintops lost a Hearts & Minds point for mortaring the village.

Fun game! More games to come!!!
