Make your plans now to attend the Warfare convention in Reading UK on the weekend of 17-18 November. I and a few other members of the "Bloody Big BATTLES!" gang will be there both days, flying the flag for BBB and for Oxford Wargames Society. link Outline plan is to have one big game on Sunday when it tends to be a bit quieter, probably Antietam; but on Saturday when the crowds are bigger and people are in more of a rush, we'll run two small games repeatedly. The candidate small games are probably Langensalza (1866) and Inverkeithing (1651) using an ECW variant of BBB. (No, I hadn't heard of the battle of Inverkeithing either.) All the games will be participation games in our usual format where folk can play a whole game if they want, or just drop in and out to push a few troops around for 30 minutes if that's all the time they have. If you're going to Warfare and you'd like to join in one of the games, do let us know, or if you won't have time to play, at least say hello – it's always a pleasure to meet y'all at shows. Inverkeithing is a great 'small' ECW battle of 5,000 'ish' a side, with a nice mix of troop types and quality on both sides – should be a great game! I've played this a few times with P&S. The English have tended to win, but the Scots should be able to make a better fist of it than they did on the actual day. Good luck with the show! |

"The English have tended to win, but the Scots should be able to make a better fist of it than they did on the actual day" … throw a few fried Mars Bars and bottles of Irn Bru on the table and the Scots will be pre-occupied … |

I am very interested in seeing the ECW variant of BBB. Is there a way I could see them? I have some 6mm figures that would be good for it. |

"That casual English xenophobia that so endears them to so many around the world" Was that some casual national stereotyping there by you too, fantasque? Do you know whether RM is English as opposed to say Welsh, Irish, or Fijian? Was your own remark meant affectionately or pejoratively? Just trying to work out whether or not I should be outraged at being xenophobically stereotyped in turn. ;-) Back to the point: Joe1870, RM, thanks for asking about the ECW variant of BBB. I haven't even had a chance to try it yet myself, though I've heard very positive reports form those who have. I shall ask Bruce about how you might get to see it. Chris |

Never been to Fiji, perhaps my afro-hair and natural tanned skin comes from there? Do they have pikes? In which case I could still play BBBECW. |

@Joe1870: "I am very interested in seeing the ECW variant of BBB. Is there a way I could see them?" Bruce says the rules are still a work in progress and not ready to share. If you can't make it to Warfare to try them out, I suggest you keep an eye on the BBB Yahoo group: link You can be sure I'll post them there as soon as Bruce feels they're fit for public consumption.
