So perhaps this might also be useful for those doing 15mm Boxer Rebellion, 15mm Fantasy and perhaps even 15mm Sci-Fi (Firefly?) … if the size is right, of course.

Thoughts?

They look pretty cool. Too bad it doesn't indicate their dimensions.

Cacique Caribe18 Sep 2018 1:38 p.m. PST

These lhere ook to be the same ones, I think:

And the dimensions according to this listing are: "2*4*5 cm"

So would you guess that the door height itself is appropriate for 15-18mm?

Throwing an image into a Photoshop like tool:

390px wide
478.5px high

390px/40mm = 9.75 px/mm

478.5px/50mm = 9.57 px/mm

Ave = 9.66 px/mm or 0.10 mm/px

264px door wide 26.4mm wide 104" (8 feet 8 inchs)
310px door high 31 mm high 122" (10 feet 2 inches)

Rather big for a house door, but for a gate to a courtyard

Seems about right!

Looks like lots of big doors in the old days:

Perhaps to ride a horse or drive a cart thru.

Has the link altered before I looked at it as when I look it clearly gives the dimensions as 2x4x5 cm. Big but not I think too big for 15mm

The first two auction links are eBay and they say the same thing as the third one (AliExpress), 2x4x5cm.

My main question was what size are the door apertures themselves, and if those apertures are about right for 15-18mm figures, which I think is what DyeHard's calculations were trying to ascertain.

Yay, so far it looks like we have a consensus, and the doors seem right for use with 15-18mm figures!

I think they'll work fine for 15mm. If they seem large, make them doors for courtyards or alleys. If they seem small, make them house doors. In travels in China, I have seen a variety of door sizes and placements, so almost any way you use these will be plausible.

You needn't limit yourself to Boxer Rebellion and Firefly scenarios. Doors like that have existed in China for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, and still stand in many places today. China has been destroying old things for the last couple of decades, but it's also building replicas, so, again, whatever you use them for probably exists, has existed, or will exist in China.

@Dan:
if it is 2*4*5cm, I think it will be a little larger for 15mms.

rvandusen Supporting Member of TMP19 Sep 2018 1:37 a.m. PST

If the 5cm measures to the roof, that would only represent about 16' or 5 meters in 15mm. Sounds good to me.

Cacique Caribe19 Sep 2018 11:19 a.m. PST

As DyeHard calculated above, the doors themselves are about 30mm tall. The rest of the 50mm is made up of steps and the structure above the doors.

So 30mm for doors on a large estate compound might actually work ok for 15-18mm figures, specially after the figures are based up.

Thanks for finding these. Will have to keep an eye on your posts as these are a good find like your bridges!

Cacique Caribe23 Sep 2018 2:03 a.m. PST

I'm hoping you guys can benefit from them as well. Both were chance discoveries. I was actually looking for trees and other foliage, but one of the sellers had a bridge in the background.

That's when I really got sidetracked … and the rest you already know. )

I'd think they'd work for 15mm. All doors are not made just for 6 ft. people. Many are much larger as the pics show.

Indeed. Check out this Japanese giant! :)
