There's a famous artist who did art for Lord of the Rings probably in the 70's or 80's, whose orcs look exactly like the Wargames Factory orcs. He drew in the style of the Osprey uniform books. Can anyone remember his name???? |

I think Angus McBride is the name you're looking for. |

McBride's Orcs definitely look the best. The other styles out there are look like cookie-cutter cartoons. Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link |

I bought two boxes of the Wargame Factory orcs specifically to use for GW's Lord of the Rings game. And I never knew about Angus McBride's artwork… I have about 2/3 of mine painted after all these years, and have yet to game with them… |

I have a ton of the WGF orcs as well. I'm thinking of making my own orcs from romans for the armor, germans for the helmets, and finding arms with scimitars and some kind of non round/roman shields. |

The WGF heads fit in well with the Northstar goblins- takes a little work on the necks which don't attach the same way. link |

I'd like to see some "evil humanoids" in well crafted civilized armour to represent races that are evil, but organized like the Assyrians or the Roman Empire. |
