For quite a few years I have published a battle report of each wargame in our 1813 campaign on Blogger.

I have recently been experimenting with doing a Powerpoint battle report as an addition to the previous battle report.

The first video or slide show is now on the most recent battle report.

The blog is mainly for my own interest and as a record of the campaign. But it is also generally available for anyone interested. I am hoping that the addition of this type of battle report may make it interesting to any casual visitor.

It is hard for me to gauge whether this type of slide show improves the blog sufficiently to make it worth the extra effort of producing it.

I would welcome any constructive comments from any members who would be prepared to view the blog and link to the slideshow.

You will find the blog here:

Thanks I think it's quite an effective presentation.
Perhaps could be improved by two things:
1. Slower slide transitions, maybe by a factor of about 3-4, enough time to both read and look around at what is happening. I had kept pausing it to get bearings.
2. Napoleonic marches music rather than whatever you used.

Thanks for your comments.

I could increase the time for each slide, but it would make the video much longer. Would it be better to reduce the text on each slide?

I agree about the music. I do not know much about YouTube, but I have been told that they are very strict on copywright, so I cannot use military music from my own collection. They have a collection of music which I can use, but it is all pretty unimpressive. I have used 1812 Overture on the video which I watch on my desktop, and that is MUCH better

Hi no I think the amount of text per slide was very good, just too quick transitions, even twice as long would be better. Yes I'm not sure about music either, though given how commonly such music is used for other videos might not be as much of a problem perhaps.

Thanks for the feedback

I was reluctant to make the video longer, as I felt it might be boring. But I agree that I will have to allow more time for each slide. I have been told that it is best to keep the length of each video to under five minutes.

Perhaps I will just do one slide for each move, that would make a total of 12. At present there are 6 seconds per slide, so even if I doubled the time per slide it would still be less than three minutes.
