… – and the U.S. Navy May Abandon Israel. "China will operate Haifa port, near Israel's alleged nuclear-armed submarines, and it seems no one in Israel thought about the strategic ramifications Shaul Horev dropped a bombshell, but hardly anyone noticed. Horev, an Israel Defense Forces reservist brigadier general who has served, among other posts, as the navy chief of staff and chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, is currently director of the Research Center for Maritime Policy and Strategy at the University of Haifa. Actually may be a smart move as a counter to Vlad's Russia moving into Syria. Puts China's interests at risk if anyone starts putting moves on Israel. |

Most people may not be aware, but Israel and Russia are quite close. A significant number of Russian expatriates live in Israel. Putin goes out of his way not to do anything that would anger Israel in the ME, and actually plays a moderating influence in reining in Iran so that no lines are crossed which would lead to direct conflict. China peddling influence and establishing a presence in Israel is no different from the case of Australia's Port Darwin. Money talks, but certain parties are wary of what they will have to give up when the bills eventually come due. |
