I was cleaning the study the other day and came across an Old Lord Kalvan short story. Great little piece with a real life feel to the military parts. Nicely developed North America. It got me to thinking of all the other worlds to game in, besides Middle Earth. Harn, Peshwar Lancers, Harry Turtledoves Second Civil War, Great War, Settling the Score, World War Two early. A really old one where Rome does not fall, called Procurator (I think). Any more? My big question is, has anyone here ever gamed or better, painted figures for these or other made up periods? Any thoughts. |

try looking at Uchronia, a website dedicated to alternate timelines…not all about wars…but most often conflict is involved. uchronia.net |

There are many, many examples everywhere on the web. On this website, there's an entire discussion board devoted to it under the name "imagination": TMP link Personally, I did try to wargame Turtledove's Second Mexican War around 15 years ago: link |

Wow. Thanks for the links and comments. How did "Down Styphon" play out WM9? I have the rules (since the 80's) but have not worked up to trying them out. I have also thought about JK's Second Mexican War- great that you even painted 'butternut' Confederate forces. I have book marked uchronia and will look through. I am inspired now. |
