The Doctors I have not seen enough of… McGann – just the one pilot show/tv movie. Would have liked to see more of his take on The Doctor, perhaps they can bring him in to future episodes/specials. Eccleston – just one season, gone too soon. Again, it would be great to see him in future episodes/specials. Troughton – so many lost stories, or stories with lost episodes. |

Tom Baker. He was THE Doctor when I started watching though I appreciate all of them now. |

Jon Pertwee (the 1st Doctor that I saw with The Spearhead from Space, still one of my favourite stories). I particularly miss Roger Delgado as the Master, taken from us far too early. Patrick Troughton, I've seen everything of his since, and listen to all of the audiobooks. Definitely some lost gems there. Paul McGann, could have been a great doctor. So good in the Monocled Mutineer & Withnail & I. Shame he only got one story & a few audiobooks. |

Tom Baker (1974-1981), with Jon Pertwee (1970-1974) a respectable second. The 1970s was the Golden Age. |

Tom Baker. My cable service played the entire Dr Who series TWICE from the beginning and then stopped halfway through the 4th Doctors series. I suspect the show changed hands at that point? I'd like to see the rest of the Dr's as well but remember Tom Baker fondly from my childhood. I may like John Pertwee more but have seen him many times over. |

I actually saw Tom Baker first, but somehow ended up liking Pertwee better. So, I would say I miss him the most. |

Tom Baker – Pertwee was also fun and yes, there are very few that I don't think were VERY good. Colin Baker had his moments though, his portrayal seemed standoffish. I've never seen all of Troughton or Hartnell's episodes (probably can't) but liked what I did see. I did like Peter Davison, even though he was quite a change from Tom. Didn't see much of those inbetween though I did think that McGann had potential. Eccelston was definitely more edgy but, we know why now. Tennant, definitely fun and seemed to fit in well with the part but I could never get into Matt Smith. He had his moments but, seemed off – maybe too childish. I haven't seen much since then, just a few Capaldi and not one Whittaker… |

Although Pertwee is my fav, and best to start with for anyone who does not like scifi and has not seen the show, I pick Paul McGann. In an ideal world, his show would have continued and this modern bastardisation would never have occured. |

I would have liked to see more of McGann and Eccleston. |

I just wish the production had bothered to take note of what the show was about before they made the 2005 series. You have a formula for a reason. I suspect they were too busy trying to figure out how to fit their barrow through the doors of the TARDIS. Again, that one season may be forgivable, but there was no excuse for what followed. I think the 8th doctor is such an unknown. The film was ok, but the series may have suffered. The daleks may have been worse than the idaleks (if thats possible). It also would have played against 3 star treks and B5, actually more big budget scifi than you can shake a sonic screwdriver at. Perhaps this is why they moved to the states, where there was more money available. |

There's plenty of 8th Doctor stories out there on CD by Big Finish. link link |
