The colour scheme narrows it down a lot:

Mr Bean?

Old Contemptibles13 Sep 2018 9:13 p.m. PST

If I could see the front of the car I could probably figure it out.

Old Contemptibles13 Sep 2018 9:29 p.m. PST

Checked the Everest Toy Company website and they don't list it. Maybe discontinued. The Renault is a three door hatchback. The Ebay car is a four door sedan. Couldn't find any that came close.

Any clue what it says on the front above the bumper? Any better picture of the emblem on the door? Could be a fictitious car? The light on the top seems to be vintage 1960s or 70s. The toy was made in Hong Kong so I checked Hong Kong police cars and no dice. It could very well be an earlier model car.

Have you asked the seller?

Those cars are ugly enough to be French.
Hot women and ugly cars.

I think it says SIMCA on the front.

My first thought was BMW or Toyota early 70s but it might be Eastern European.

Toyota? Corolla?

It's a french Simca police car from the 60s. Coat of arms it sports is from Paris.

I'd say the model imitates the Renault from 1962 but has labeled them as the Simca model from 1969

Old Contemptibles13 Sep 2018 10:32 p.m. PST

I would say a mid 70s Simca. It is hard to match up that roof line and front end.

Here are some places to send a picture. I am sure they know exactly what it is.

I think Uncle Goblin may have hit the nail on the head with that first photo.

Hi Dan,

The color scheme on the car is from France, it's a 60s or 70s police car like this :

Renault Dauphine

picture

or this :

The coat of arms is from Paris, so it's "une voiture de la Préfecture de Police de Paris".

I agree with BrianW and Rallynow, I think it's a "Simca 1000"

There is is a "mistake" on the Renault Dauphine and on the toycar, the light on the top should be blue and not orange.

The car on the picture is no more "en service" and not allowed to have the blue light.

Simca is a Spanish brand and Simca 1000 was a very popular car in the seventies. On a side note there was a song from the eighties called: "it's so difficult to make love in a Simca 1000". I haven't had the experience to confirm it, though. :)

Do I get a prize for guessing Renault first?

(I'll accept anything except a free Renault).

mysteron14 Sep 2018 12:21 a.m. PST

It certainly looks like a Simca to me

Thanks for the link Gaz, much informative.

I had several misconceptions regarding Simca, I thought it was spanish and it was french and italian.

Thanks so much.

france or italy, can't quite make out what car it is though.

It's a Simca 1000, no doubt. One such was my first car, close to forty years ago…

If I ever have to flee the law, may the law be driving a Renault.
