Semi-confirmed rumor: I just got word that US helicopter pilots (especially Apache's) are being reactivated, including ones that have been retired for 10+ years. My source (former military in Florida) is a friend that was told by a retired Apache pilot that is being activated and going to Fort Rucker and will also take Spanish lessons. The word is it's Venezuela. Does anyone have additional information or confirmation? I could not find anything. Wolfhag PS – I'm banned from the Ultramodern Forum so I posted here. |

There has been some rumor of a desire to help ease the crisis there, and Maduro definitely should be removed, so….. Wouldn't be surprised. Seems like that drone idea from a few weeks back was a good one, but I got the impression that it was a setup by Maduro's people to crack down on opponents, since it was so poorly executed. |

They would activate guard and reserve pilots for that. |

I wonder if his secret police check into them? As far as I know, there is no credible information to confirm that his Menudo has been poisoned, or that his cooks/chefs are working for the opposition, and secretly plotting against him and his family. |

My son is an AH-64E pilot and this is not slightly true or possible. There are still several AH-64D reserve units but they would still need 6+ months at a minimum to get up to useful readiness. Qualifying a guy 10+ years retired on the airframe (even the AH-64D is very different than 10 years ago) would take more IP's and more time and money than simply qualifying the entirety of an existing basic flight class which would still be unlikely and you would still need to integrate them in a combat formation, spin that formation up by running them through JRTC or NTC and then figure out a way to get the battalion to a useful base as the fight range precludes anything but putting them on a ship,in pieces. Given the USMC has Vipers onboard any number of LHA/LPD's and the ability to go ship to shore right here, right now, pulling older out of shape guys off the street isn't going to happen. |

That matches up pretty well with "fighting season" in Afghanistan……. |

Also, I doubt Venezuela could really throw up anything that we'd have to dig down into retirees to deal with. I mean really, Venezuela? |
