A brief battle report of one of our 'club games' using our version of the Black Powder rules set. With the imminent release of the second edition of Black powder, this is probably the last game that we will play before 'resetting' with the new rules set. link

I understand BP2 isn't much of a leap from BP. More like slight alterations and clarifications, but basically recognizably similar. |

I realize this is not in keeping with 21st Century practice, but don't you want to at least read the new system before deciding you must all convert to it? |

Hi robert piepenbrink, I'm not sure what you mean by 21st century practice but in relaunching the new edition of Black Powder, Warlord Games have given plenty of clues as to what the new book may contain. Indeed, there is a six page article in Wargames Illustrated issue 371 in which the author, Rick Priestly, explains the main changes and the rational behind them. There is also the following youtube video where Rick previews the new rules: YouTube link Warlord games have also helpfully written an article explaining the main rules changes – it's on their website. So in deciding whether or not to convert to the new rules, there is already plenty of information out there. Whether we ALL convert to the new rules I cant say and only speak for myself but I have read all of the new rules and I will be writing an article for WI explaining why I think the new rules are good for the hobby. I'm sure not all will agree but if you would like to know more you will have to read the article (assuming that it is accepted.) I hope that this helps, regards Steve |

"Black Powder" and its associated rule sets were always sold as being a "tool kit", with the authors positively encouraging house rules etc. Having shelled out the best part of £150.00 GBP for the various main rule books and supplements in the BP " family", no way am I buying a new version with minor changes that I might or might not want to use. |
