* narrowing
* widening
* about the same

Cacique Caribe11 Sep 2018 3:50 p.m. PST

Just as chaotic as ever.

Bill Rosser11 Sep 2018 4:01 p.m. PST

definitely narrowing

KSmyth11 Sep 2018 4:03 p.m. PST

A mess. Staring retirement in the eye in June, and there's still a zillion things I'd like to do.

Evolving…away from simple toward complex and nuanced.

Widening but narrowing trying to finish up and grow a few projects getting out of a few periods but getting into a new one

Agree with Mark – probably best stated evolving

Winston Smith11 Sep 2018 4:16 p.m. PST

For myself, I'm down to AWI and Flames of War.

Widening … I have more money to spend on the hobby.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP11 Sep 2018 4:52 p.m. PST

Intensifying? A full range of broad periods and scales, but I've sold off a great number of armies and worked to make the remaining ones more complete.

Widening historically, narrowing as far as Sci-fi/fantasy goes.

Widening, possibly beyond my abilities

MSU John11 Sep 2018 5:58 p.m. PST

Widening, definitely.

SultanSevy11 Sep 2018 6:23 p.m. PST

Widening -- more money leads to more dabbling in a variety of areas.

Widening, in ways I cannot control…

TBClark111 Sep 2018 8:09 p.m. PST

Just the opposite of Extra Crispy – narrowing and definitely away from complex and nuanced toward simple.

I have about 10 eras of interest, pretty wide and have kept to that for last 20 years, just changing rules and figures.

Personal logo COL Scott ret Supporting Member of TMP11 Sep 2018 10:23 p.m. PST

Widening a bit.

repaint11 Sep 2018 10:26 p.m. PST

narrowing, like "we don't matter", "what's the point".

But I have more money to make sure that my "interests" are well covered… :)

gamershs11 Sep 2018 11:06 p.m. PST

Lets see:
- Just finished mounting, grasssing and labeling Selucid CMD stands for my 15mm Selucid army
- Just labeled my CMD stands for my 15mm Early German, Early Imperial Roman and Han Chinese armies.
- Just finished 4 Japanese WW2 300mm heavy bombers (that were never built).
- Am working on 4 UNSC space transports for my UN Space fleet.
- Painting 25mm (28mm?) Drenoi (bug) figures for a SciFi convention game I will put on next year.
- Am reviewing my 15mm ACW figures for a convention game next year (may have to paint additional figures).

I guess it is about the same.

Widening. More time and a bit more free cash since retirement. Still want to do more than I actually do so that hasn't changed.

Personal logo Patrick R Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 1:55 a.m. PST

Still out of control.

Not widening but not narrowing much either

Changing a bit – but as I drop something I add something else

Drying up and blowing away in the wind….

LAP195412 Sep 2018 4:59 a.m. PST

ABOUT THE SAME! TOO Much to do, not enough time to do it..and I retired two years ago.

Narrowing in that not everything has to be done big anymore, I am happy with some projects to stay small/skirmish level and some projects on their way to be big have been scaled back.

I am also doing to some projects that were "someday" projects now (Muslim Conquest, Biblicals) as my core collections are in pretty good shape.

Bob in Edmonton12 Sep 2018 5:10 a.m. PST

Narrowing, both in what I collect and what I play.

Desert Fox12 Sep 2018 5:17 a.m. PST

But I am trying to resist the temptation of having too many projects going at once. I am trying to finish one project before I start another. But I am not having much luck. Just too many periods with too much eye candy to resist!

One thing I have done in the last few years to prevent me from starting too many new projects is putting in more time making more interesting and realistic terrain. As I get older I am finding I am becoming more interested in how my games look.

just retired ,so…WIDE OPEN BABY!!!!1

My interests have always been wide, but my wallet was mostly narrow. It's pretty easy to have a limited collection when you have very little money to spend on figures. Having more disposable income now makes it harder for me to reign in all of my interests.

rustymusket Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 7:01 a.m. PST

narrowing generally but open to something new once in a while.

Personal logo Sgt Slag Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 7:40 a.m. PST

Narrowing for the past 20 years: virtually no historical games anymore; only playing fantasy; Army Men games are roaring back, though. To be honest, my historical games interest was limited, from the start, but I will still play just about anything. I just am focusing my interests, and limited hobby time, towards my two areas of highest interest. Cheers!

Rich Bliss12 Sep 2018 7:49 a.m. PST

They narrowed about 15 years ago and have stayed steady since.

Hlaven Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 7:58 a.m. PST

Narrowing definitely. 28s only.Though I love it; no more sci-fi or western. Very small but adequate WWII. Vikings, Napoleonic, and ACW.

still hold my main interests. Definitely I do projects more slowly now.

skedaddle Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 8:10 a.m. PST

still meandering like a slow river…

Personal logo The Beast Rampant Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 8:34 a.m. PST

Less and less focused.

I blame the wider proliferation of good minis over broader periods & genres. And pesky kids on my lawn.

MrMagoo12 Sep 2018 9:20 a.m. PST

Widening. There is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to gaming these days. Too many cool choices to.. SQUIRREL!!

General Kirchner12 Sep 2018 9:43 a.m. PST

i have sold off over half my stuff in the last year.

While i have cycled periods, genres and armies in the past, I cant see getting too fired up about anything new.

unless……….. :)

I think I'll go with Cacique Caribe's characterization: chaotic as ever.

The range of games I run has narrowed, at least for the last several years, down basically to just Traveller and StarGrunt. The range of games I play, however, is pretty much anything.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2018 10:42 a.m. PST

Narrowing as few can be found who want to play the Old Rules I prefer.

John Leahy12 Sep 2018 11:14 a.m. PST

I'm with Dan!
