I thinked to give a chance for 10mm (1:150) and prepared two dolls. After slowly advancing with this project I plan to produce at least one set someday and then watch, what happen.

At first I make dolls for all figures in set and this process I will cover here. What Unit it will be, we can decide later, when all dolls are ready.

von Winterfeldt10 Sep 2018 10:50 a.m. PST

you must at least make two complete armies – to get a chance that people would buy the miniatures.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP10 Sep 2018 11:04 a.m. PST

In 8mm yes, but in 10mm it is the same as in 15mm, there already are armies from other producers.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP28 Sep 2018 5:50 a.m. PST

Big horses from 8mm are useful as small horses in 10mm.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP06 Oct 2018 11:04 a.m. PST

Legs moved closer to centre of weight.

von Winterfeldt07 Oct 2018 12:07 p.m. PST

nice face

Yes, please. 1809 would be nice.

Do the bayonets have to be as prominent?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP11 Oct 2018 7:24 a.m. PST

Yes, it must be as prominent.
But may be closer to barrel line.
This doll is mother for all other dolls, so there will be lot of modifications before I start to sculpt master figures.

Supreme Littleness Designs11 Oct 2018 8:31 a.m. PST

As you say there are other producers and, to fit in, nearer the barrel would match all but one sculptor. Similar to your excellent 1:100 scale would be perfect. Small horses is also an excellent idea. May I suggest Insurrection cavalry.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Oct 2018 2:06 p.m. PST

The bayonet is now better?
old – left, new – right.

Right now I don't think about cavalry much.
These 6mm, 8mm and 10mm are my hobby or side projects, at least until they stay poorly castable. I try to get well casted infantry unit first.

Supreme Littleness Designs14 Oct 2018 5:56 a.m. PST

Far superior!

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP23 Oct 2018 8:02 a.m. PST

Officer doll..

Supreme Littleness Designs23 Oct 2018 5:25 p.m. PST

Very nice to see the officer marching with his men instead of standing or being out of step.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP02 Nov 2018 1:33 p.m. PST

Doll with French musket and doll for Flagbearer or pike/pontoon carried Officer or NCO.

von Winterfeldt06 Nov 2018 10:53 a.m. PST

I would shorten the lapels on the 10 mm a bit – to achieve a higher taille.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Nov 2018 5:47 a.m. PST

Like this?

von Winterfeldt13 Nov 2018 7:20 a.m. PST

either my eyes are betraying me, but you also made the lapels narrower? Very nice eagle on the shako

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Nov 2018 7:46 a.m. PST

I moved lapels more to centre and add belly. Otherwise it was too flat.
Also new eagle, to improve the side view of shako.
Now I think, what to do with trousers.

von Winterfeldt13 Nov 2018 10:31 a.m. PST

long trousers please

Voila,

10mm French Infantry at Waterloo

Any more suggestions to improve?

Excellent Sho – look like good 18mm sculpts! Incredible that they are 10mm.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP24 Dec 2018 10:25 a.m. PST

In metal..

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP24 Dec 2018 7:56 p.m. PST

Very nice final product. Can they be bought? I couldn't find them in your shop.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP24 Dec 2018 11:45 p.m. PST

They are far away from being released. This is only testcasting, to inform me, are they profitable to produce, because my pricing policy bases on weight of figures (postage terms). Thanks to this my earlier 6mm figures haved too expencive prices, compare to other producers.

But now I may happily say, that in 10mm I may offer not expencive but average price, comparable with all other producers I checked. This trooper will be probably cost only 0.20 EUR max. But I prepare all other needed figures too and then will decide.

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP25 Dec 2018 2:03 a.m. PST

So there is hope, which is good to know. Let me know if it is possible to influence your decision!

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP26 Dec 2018 10:30 a.m. PST

Excellent! With 2-3 additional pose variations, even better.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP27 Dec 2018 12:34 a.m. PST

No-no, no pose variations!
All must march with same step, right leg forward. All, including officers, musicians, flagbearers and NCO. Uniformity is better here than diversity.

Tested and proved. My 8mm figs looks great on closeup photos with pose variations, but on table they don't. They looks more walking free than marching.

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP27 Dec 2018 6:07 a.m. PST

Ok. No pose variations!

So ready for production soon (I hope)?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP27 Dec 2018 6:50 a.m. PST

Well. Quality is OK. Weight is OK. Castability is OK.
Now I try to create full production mould for these troopers only. Because command figures (markers) need full mould for themselves anyway, I suspect.

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP27 Dec 2018 4:11 p.m. PST

Look forward to your report on the results Sho.

Juhan Voolaid02 Jan 2019 4:29 a.m. PST

Damn, nice work!

von Winterfeldt04 Jan 2019 2:56 a.m. PST

received a sample miniature, very nicely cast, crisp details

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP26 Feb 2019 5:00 a.m. PST

Command dolls are in metal at last.
Triples for production mould on left.

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP26 Feb 2019 12:20 p.m. PST

Looking very promising.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP21 Mar 2019 1:14 a.m. PST

Well. Yesterdays news. First production mould is ready. It fits 8 triples of troopers, needed for one full unit.
But..
one triple is ruined in moulding,
not all bayonets will be OK in every cast.

I will continue experiments today, try to find proper rotating speed and mould pressure for 10mm figs.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP21 Mar 2019 9:42 a.m. PST

After intense testing most of bayonets will be casted satisfactory now. But this causes lot of flash to cast majority of bayonets in every shot.

Bayonets must be done more prominent further. I probably prepare one more production mould for them, but for impatients here are link to purchase some of them.

boki.ee/6SHOP/Boki10mm/FRANCE/FR_1001/Boki_Shop.htm

Troopers are available as triples (trios), because in this way they are cheaper. VAT must be added in full cents, so one figure must cost 24 cents, but three figures together can be sold for 60 cents – 20 cents per figure.

I checked right now, how many others ask for 10mm infantry figs..

Magister Militum – 0.22
Pendraken – 0.20
Old Glory – 0.18
Irregular – 0.23

.. so my 0.20 is competitive price.
Only casting quality must be improved.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP15 Apr 2019 4:14 a.m. PST

Second mould is ready. Nearly perfect. Only 2 figures from 19 have little flash.
So they are available.
Official opening will be after painting.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP11 May 2019 6:12 a.m. PST

Painting in process..

138SquadronRAF11 May 2019 8:45 a.m. PST

Nicely done.

I'm primarily a 10mm gamer. I'd happily add these to my collection.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP11 May 2019 1:23 p.m. PST

You are welcome! :-)

Prussian on table..

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP24 Aug 2019 10:49 a.m. PST

Very nice to see Sho. Are you still planning on french command?
Please let us know your 10mm plans for the future.
Kind regards LPWC

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP24 Aug 2019 12:13 p.m. PST

The ultimate goal is to release any future set simultaneously in 15(18)mm, 10mm and 6mm sizes.

Right now I try to fulfill commissioned 15(18)sets. But meanwhile, when I get inspiration, sculpting these sets, I will create some 10mm and 6mm trooper dolls for dolls mould. Without any plan, just follow my fingers.

For example I planned to sculpt one British trooper, but my fingers sculpted the Prussian one.. and then the Hessian one..

For Command set I need some more dolls to do. Skirmishers and casualties. And may be even mounted officer one.

10mm and 6mm Command sets will be designated and designed for wargame with my EMPEROR rules and will contain all needed and optional markers-figures.

Hessian 1794..

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP26 Aug 2019 2:19 a.m. PST

Follow your fingers. They are leading you to good places. Mounted figure would be nice!

Last Hussar05 Oct 2019 3:10 a.m. PST

10mm is 165:1

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP05 Oct 2019 6:29 a.m. PST

10mm from ground to eyes.
So figures height is something 11mm or more.
Average height of men was 170cm.
170cm / 150 = 11.3mm
