"Number of tanks in Israeli tank platoon (67-73)?" Topic

Hello,

I am planning to base 3mm armor per platoon. Unfortunately, I can't find reliable info on how many tanks a platoon contains for the period 67 and 73.

I'd tend to believe that the official TO&E is 3 tanks. Almost certain for 1973 and after.

What about 67? Can anyone confirm what was the official TO&E for 1973 and 1967?

from the AIW yahoo group, found a topic where they mention that Israel organized from 1964 its tank companies as:

GHQ: 2 x tanks
Three platoons at 3 tanks

The 3 tank platoon is right for 1973 and after but I believe the 1967 platoon is 4. My copy of the old Tabletop Games "Modern Army lists and Organizations for the 1950s & 60s" has an Israeli tank company of 3 platoons of 4 plus an HQ tank. Four companies gives 52 tanks per battalion not counting the Battalion HQ. The tank battalions of the 7th Armored Brigade in the Sinai are 58 tanks in the 82nd battalion and 66 tanks (5 companies?) in the 79th battalion so a company of 13 or 14 tanks makes sense to me.

According to The Israel Defense Forces,1948-2017 – Kenneth S. Brower, a tank company in 1967 was formed of 14 tanks in platoons of 4, with 2 commands.

Israeli TO&E are very difficult to nail down. I suppose it has a lot to do with Opsec.
