The weekend saw my daughter's first ever real wargame. We used the wonderful Portable Wargames Rules by Bob Cordery, with a few on the hoof amendments. She won, with very little advice from her opponent. We used a ninety mm grid on a grass mat and felt cut outs for terrain. She already plays and enjoys Carcassonne.

Excellent. Gaming (and more than likely losing) with kids is great. Many fun games with my Grandkids.

Excellent. I need to try those, still looking for a set of rules that will really click with my seven-year-old. I'm thinking about trying the Perrys' Travel Battle next.

Any thought of playing GuP?

Gaming with the kids is always great fun.

They seem to catch on quickly, and frequently have amazing luck with dice rolling.
