The Fantasy Trip Kickstarter has exploded over the past month, closing in on $300 USDk, and closes on Friday, August 24th at 6pm ET. Don't miss out!

This project includes the revival of the classic boardgames Melee and Wizard, with hex boards suitable for counters (included) or minis from 15mm to 54mm. These are lightweight but logical rulesets that let you play scenarios for ancient, medieval or fantasy scenarios, from 1-on-1 arena battles to full dungeon crawls. Also perfect for solo play, and includes new versions of the solo adventures Death Test and Death Test 2. If you played these games back in the 70s or 80s, here's your chance to own (again?) even better versions of them!

Beyond that, the project also covers the advanced RPG rules for Advanced Melee, Advanced Wizard and In The Labyrinth. All sorts of play aids have been added as the Kickstarter has progressed: large playmats, folios, character pads, dry erase megahex boards (for tunnels and custom rooms), dice, and a companion book with historical docs and optional rules. If the KS hits $300 USDk, there will also be a portable "pocket box" microgame version of Melee/Wizard released, with new art by the original artist, Liz Danforth. PDFs of everything is also included.

The pledge levels ($25-$110) are very generous, and this is the best way to lock in the lowest prices before the games are released to retail next spring.

If you have collections of miniatures (even Legos and other minifigs!) looking for a game that's fast and fun, this is the one. Whether you're a boardgamer or a roleplayer, you'll find The Fantasy Trip is a game that bridges the gaps very elegantly.

Check out the KS page at kck.st/2uHXzZa and get in on this before it's over this Friday!

That box is going to be packed! You could literally just play that game for a year once it comes out.

Melee is an easy tactical skirmish game

Works well

I am a fan of the game, but I have the original stuff and am unsure of why I need or should want the new stuff. Have they updated the rules?

They have polished and clarified the old rules, but this isn't TFT 2.0. They've closed some exploits and restructured experience, but it's still the game you'd recognize. The big difference is higher quality of components, better organization and presentation, and new components like the megahexes. It is the TFT boxed set promised by Metagaming in 1980 (not released) and so much more. You really need to look at the pictures on the KS page to see how much work they've put into this
