"When most people hear the word "Apache" their first thought is "savage." But most of that people do not realize that the Apaches were just reacting to another savage who was an invader. The highly increase of invaders in the Apache land, made them to confront the Apaches during a period of time called Apaches Wars. During this period of time, the Apaches took advantage of their terrain and they develop different tactics in order to survive and fight against the Mexican and American army. Missing the link Tango1.

Interesting that the post is from an Austin Community College History Professor's pages.

One would hope that the student who composed it was not a native English speaker.

On the other hand, it is understandable.

Apparently he has never talked to the Pima, Maricopa, or Papago Tribes. They were the targets of Apache "savageness" before the Americans of Mexicans showed up.

jdginaz hit the nail on the head. The Indians did the same thing to each other that everyone today is so upset about the white man doing to the Indians. The difference was the white men had the industrial revolution and the Indians had the stone age.

None of this is to mean I don't feel sympathy for the Indian losing his way of life. That must have been horrible. But facts are facts.

I shall not feel guilty about things that happened before my time that I had nothing to do with. Sad yes, guilty no.
