The Air Force will soon operate F-35s with fast-evolving collision-avoidance technology able to help fighter jets avoid ground collisions by using computer automation to redirect an aircraft in the event that a pilot is injured or incapacitated… link |

Useful, perhaps, but my money says a working "air-to-air missile collision avoidance system" would be a better buy. |

This is a great idea. Most modern aircraft, both military and civilian, have been equipped with EGPWS (enhanced ground proximity warning system), but it requires input from the pilot. Several fighter jets over the years have crashed due to the pilot over g-ing and passing out as the aircraft heads to the ground. This new system of having the autopilot take over will save lives otherwise lost in training exercises. |

GLOC Gee-induced Loss Of Consciousness Straffing Target noun an aircraft flying straight and level with a GLOCed out pilot. This system needs to be able to take random evasive action. |
