"The Civil War was the bloodiest ever war fought on the home soil of the United States. The war pitted North against South, brother against brother. The South featured superior military strategy, and the North had more able-bodied troops.

One of the most infamous battalions to fight were known as "Wheat's Tigers." The battalion was established when Chatham Roberdeau Wheat returned from serving with the Red Shirts in Italy, seeking to raise a battalion to support the Confederates during the Civil War. The company soon grew in both reputation and size…."

Interesting. It made me dig a bit deeper about the Red Shirts. I never made the connection between Wheat and Garibaldi.

You have to remember that the guys in the striped Zouave breeches – the Tiger Rifles – only made up one company of Wheat's Battalion. For every actual soldier that was dressed in this uniform, there are probably a thousand wargame figures, in any number of scales, making up entire regiments.

Who cares about time and amount?… they look so good!. (smile)… if you want to put a whole Regiment with their dress… enjoyed it!…. (smile)

Tango, thanks for the comments. There are Tiger lovers and haters out in TMP land. I have always been proud to wear my Tiger Rifle uniform at reenactments and will continue to do so. TIG
