"Do you pursue routing enemy units after you have routed their entire army (choose "continue" instead of "end battle")? Which do you prefer and why?

I guess that always choosing "continue" would favor calvary (and yari samuri for their fast move ability), and be less useful for Nakinata samuri units because of their slow speed….."

It depends on, in no particular order, the victory conditions, the general tactical and strategic situation, and how long we've been playing already.

Also, we don't know what the scenario writer and/or the other player have up their sleeves: are they inviting us to chase them into an ambush? should we secure the battlefield and prepare to receive their counterattack? are our forces needed elsewhere, and we have to vacate the battlefield quickly, giving the enemy a chance to attack our rear?

Champaign – always. One off battle – seldom.

As a side note, I once did the full battle of Gettysburg and on day three after Pickets charge was set up, I looked it over and ended the game there.

This topic is about the computer game "total war", although not clear unless you follow the link.
