Unfortunately all "contemporary" illustrations are from 1786 (after the return to Hesse-Cassel, when some of the colours were changed, and when William succeeded his father Frederick as ruler of Hesse-Cassel). Mind that the lion in the central field of the flags should face forward (and not backwards). And there are some other flaws in the illustrations.
If you have any spacific question about a flag, just write me a mail.
