Are Blackpowder rules brigade level units or individual regiments? Looking at picking up version 2 rules when they come out. Thanks Andy |

It's your choice, as all units are grouped into one of the 4 sizes (Large, Small, Standard or Tiny). I interpret this to mean that at brigade level most cavalry brigades would be Small, while Large would represent infantry brigades of new recruits whose numbers have not been reduced by disease/desertion/battle (delete as applicable), Standard most infantry brigades throughout the war, Small as units that have suffered severe losses, and Tiny as small independent units (Sharpshooters?) The sample battle in version 1 has both infantry and cavalry as regiments, with the Standard infantry unit consisting of 36 figures and the Standard cavalry unit consisting of 12 figures (i.e. there are about 3 times as many cavalry in a regiment than infantry) |

I always play it as battalion/regiment per unit |

I'm thinking of doing regiments also. 36 figures per unit is a lot, is that six stands of 6 figures each for an average sized unit? |

It's really pretty flexible. I've done it with the regulation 10-company regiments with each company having its own stand. Still works fine. |

Written for 'battalion' size units, generally with large battles having the number of units scaled down rather than unit size scaled down. figures per 'standard' unit and base sizes doesn't matter much, providing both sides are roughly comparable. |

I do brigade level and find that it works well and has a good ACW feel. |

Number of figures used is totally up to you, as long as both sides unit frontages are roughly equivalent for same size units. |

these lost after the reading and how they handle unit size and basing. i think black power is all right for Nap war but fails for acw |
