Anyone do an Old West RPG?

Carlo Fantom10 Aug 2018 8:27 a.m. PST

Boot Hill, it's very lethal but it works well.

Had hours of fun running Boot Hill for our group back in the day. Some good town supplements and scenarios too.

Here it is: Boot Hill RPG link.

I played this when it first came out. We concentrated on 1e AD&D, but we also dipped our boot toes into this RPG. It was fun, but not as fun as the fantasy RPG. This is 3rd edition, and I only played 1st, back around 1980. This edition got three ratings of five stars. Cheers!

You may like Gurps.

I did one years ago – FGUs Wild West. Probably a bit complicated for today's taste but we certainly had great fun with the campaign.

There's Dark City Games' Legends of the Untamed West' rules based off of a The Fantasy Trip/GURPS base.
Free and a lite set of rules so you can give it a try and see if you even like playing in the genre.

IIRC the guys who do Hackmaster have an old west game. And there is Deadlands, though it is more supernatural.

If we're talking supernatural: link

TwoHourWargames has a RPG lite set available from Rebelminis called Six Gun Sound that is good. There is also High Moon that is Western Horror by THW also available from Rebelminis that can be used with or without the horror aspect.

Thanks everyone for your help. I now own several sets to read plus there are a lot of entertaining you tube vids about GURPS!
I think an old west campaign is going to be next.
Oh my goodness all those happy childhood days in front of the TV brought to back to life.

I liked Deadlands, the original version. Law Dogs were my thing.

If you can find a copy, Blake's 'Old West Gunfight'
RPG is, to me, the sine qua non.

Published in 1975, it has LOTS of information on
different weapons and so forth.

Our group ran 3 or 4 campaigns using that set and
it was always great fun.
