In "Officers and Soldiers of the French Army, 1940", Andre Jouineau shows a machine gunner of the 6th cuirassiers and says this regiment was still mounted. Any other evidence support a claim that French troops were conducting mounted operations in 1940?

Plenty of of mounted troops in the French army in 1940 as half of the combat brigades in the DLC (Division Légère de Cavalerie) were mounted as were a number of independent cavalry brigades. link

However based on the sources I have the 6e régiment de cuirassiers was not a mounted unit but rather a recon regiment with Panhard 178 armoured cars in the 1st DLM link

Perhaps a typo as the 5e régiment de cuirassiers was a mounted unit in the 2nd DLC.

As above, the DLC were cavalry divisions. The Germans also employed their 1st Cavalry Division in France.

Interesting, perhaps then some mounted troops are to be painted and they can be in the rear and then move up like dragoons and dismount to fight.

Nice models ! But in many cases the horse cav units at the beginning of WWII were "fighting the last war" in their arms, organization and deployment.

Perhaps, but I have masses of WW2 cavalry, particularly Russian and Rumanian, and even a fair amount of German (as each infantry division had a cavalry recce squadron).

you must count the "cavalry regiments" as "motorized infantry regiments" riding horses , due to the lack of vehicles …

DLC were partly motorized divisions :
with a Cavalry Brigade of 2 horse mounted regiments
and a motorized brigade of an armoured car regiment and a dragons portés regiment

the only French cavalry charge during WW2 was the charges of a Free French Moroccan Spahis unit on Italian troops in Erytrea .
