Hi

How do folks go about using robots and the like for GASLIGHT? I have some steam golems from Mageknight that I want to make into units. Regular units dont get a save but I think the robots would be a little more resistant to gunfire. I was just going to give them a save anyway along with a sustain roll for the unit in order to activate.

Id like to hear some other peoples ideas.

Thanks

Chuck

We made ours as very light armored vehicles but we would have a couple on the field. I would give them a save rating and since musket Fire is about a minus 10 for penetration, they won't need too much

Here are some fun examples:

When I've used robots in games, I treat them like an Armored Conveyances, just without a rider .
A couple notes:
1) Consider whether you want to roll Sustain for each robot, or make a single "Unit" Sustain roll to simplify things.
2) If you decide to do individual Sustain rolls, you may want to ignore command radius for the unit as broken down robots start getting left behind by those still advancing.
3) Sometimes, depending on the scenario, I don't let robots self-Start or fix themselves; but assign a "technician" to the unit who must run around and get all the stopped robots moving again..

I figure Id give the whole unit a sustain roll along with a save of six. There will be a unit or battle group leader to keep them running. Id use the rule that unless a unit is equipped with dedicated anti armor weapons then there is a -9 SRM. That should give the effect Im looking for.

Sound good?
