I don't have much luck with title searches…. what is the opinion, for a set for small miniatures (15mm maybe) for larger battles (not skirmish), is Warpaint ok? Is Yellow Ribbon ok?

And do either have a campaign framework for the historical problem of not being able to find your enemy?

Thanks.

Yellow Ribbon is the one to chase. The Indians do what Indians did, and the supplement, "Continually Wear the Blue", as I remember, had scenarios, if not a campaign framework. And designed for 15mm figures.

Stay clear of Warpaint: flawed mechanics, and the natives act/react the same way as the whites.

Check out The Men Who Would Be Kings, Plains War supplement on the FB page. Or TWATF variant The Tomahawk And The Flame here:

Another emphatic vote for "Yellow Ribbon."

The ONLY set of rules for battles with Native Americans of the Plains and Southwest that allows them to be themselves--and a great game system, too!

Another vote for Ceterman's suggestion

One more for Yellow Ribbon. Novak's Medicine Number rule is brilliant.

I guess that is one I have to check out :)

Yeah, Yellow Ribbon. My only issue with them is that you really need the counters to run the game. Happily, a kind gent created a nice set of counters for orders. I posted them on the 15mm American Indian Wars yahoo group. I created a pdf for them in the files. In a pinch I can email them to any folks that would like a set.

First choice for ‘big battles' would still be Yellow Ribbon , but for a faster moving game we've had a lot of fun with ‘Men Who Would Be Kings' using the rule adaptations the Barnsley club put together, which are (as previously mentioned) on the files page of the MWWBK FB Page.

MWWBK lends itself to upscaling to much bigger games than the 40-50 figure per side that the scenarios provided suggest.

Which, it appears, you have to join Facebook in order to access. Any chance of posting that information where you don't have to join FB in order to see it?

Hi Deephorse.

If you don't mind posting a contact email here, I'll send you the ‘Barnsley Adaptations' this weekend.

Or, as I see you're just up the road, come and join us for a game!

Have you seen or tried Peter Pigs Old West rules, just called 'Western'. They are for 15mm figures, which Peter Pig has a large range of figures for as well.
They are designed for 'Battles in the Old West' and contain a campaign system as well.
