On a scale of 1 to 5 how important do you consider humor to be in enjoying a game with your buddies?

5.

When the guys start shouting into each others faces over rules or opinions, it kind of kills the mood. When one wants to take the other outside for a fistfight, I'm ready to leave.

5 meaning the most importance?

Maybe 3. Too much kidding around gets in the way of the game, and one man's humor is another man's irritation…

5, why else play?

5 period. It is only a GAME, and if the "friends" can't handle that they don't get invited back.

It is the same reason you go to a Rockies game, sit in the nose bleed seats, drink G&T's, smoke a 'gar, and just have "man time" with your best friends.

5. Its supposed to be FUN

whitphoto30 Jul 2018 9:24 p.m. PST

What's the point otherwise?

wrgmr130 Jul 2018 9:24 p.m. PST

Ahh 5…. of course.

Gwydion31 Jul 2018 3:14 a.m. PST

Depends.

And – why does 'fun' have to be 'humour'?

I have had fun doing or watching very 'serious' things.

I'm with Bill I think here.

5 of 5 to know when to use it
5 of 5 to know when not to use it

So, I met this girl at a vegan restaurant and she said she knew me but I never saw herbivore.

5. Never let the game get in the way of enjoying being with your friends.

Having just gotten through another summer of leading teenagers in D&D, I can honestly say there is a limit to how much "goofing around" is good in a game. So while good-natured humor should ALWAYS be a part of gaming (and I wouldn't want to play a game where no one had a sense of humor), there is such a thing as being "much too silly."

So if it's a grading of how much silliness should be in a game, I'll go with 4.

If it's a grading of whether humor should be present, I'll go with 5.

Crush your friend, then you can laugh. LOL, this is the attitude that I run into most often.
